Why choose Rafting Momentum?

Our guides are experienced, cautious, passionate, competent and a little silly! To be a guide to Rafting Momentum, if you’re not a little silly you’re not welcome!!!

Seriously, why choose Rafting Momentum?

Our service is more personalized because we are the smallest rafting company on this river. Our prices are the best on the Ottawa River and there are no hidden costs or sneaky tricks. Our prices include the full day of rafting, camping, a healthy lunch (the healthiest in the world), BBQ dinner, video presentation, river equipment, a small beer or juice at the end of the day and a wonderful guide.

The only thing that requires a small extra charge is the wetsuits and a copy of the video. In fact, the wetsuit is free in the spring and fall, we will only charge you for the wetsuit if we think you are being a pampered 🙂

And also, why us instead of another rafting company? We have dogs, beautiful, sweet and gentle dogs.

What is your ultimate argument?

Here, you are not a number. We do not have 10 boats departing every hour which means we are not on a tight schedule. We do not have large boats that can hold 12 to 14 people, only boats of 6 to 8 people and never more than 6 boats will go down at the same time (so less waiting).

And above all, we like to say that we are YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

What should I bring?

What does rafting mean to us?

For us, rafting is a fun and fabulous adventure to be shared with family and friends. It’s a great day spent in nature, on a beautiful river with lots of rapids. It’s a marvellous water sport. But mainly, rafting is an amazing opportunity to create memories and a great excuse to celebrate friendship and family! Because, when you plan a trip of rafting, you think about those you see often and the one you would like to see more.

What if it rains?

Rafting is a water sport, rain is water, we drink water, many of us have pools filled with water… Water is a wonderful thing!

Mainly, what we mean is that we go good weather, bad weather.

What if there is a storm?

A storm can delay a departure or slow down an excursion in progress. It is very rare for a storm to last several hours in a row. We have never cancelled an excursion since 2008. So if there is a storm, bring yourself, life is beautiful and you will see that between a big wave or a big rain, there is not so much difference 😉

What if it snows?

You must be confused!

Can we die?

Yes, you can… But you can also fall down stairs, get hit by a car, be bit by an enraged raccoon or trip over someone sitting on a sidewalk eating a strawberry donut and fall into a manhole!
If you have worries, call us and we will reassure you.

Do we eat well?

Yes, you do! We offer by the Ottawa River a healthy lunch made of fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese and various nuts that will provide you great energy for the afternoon. For those who ask: “Where is the meat?” well, I will answer them: “There is none, you do not need to eat meat every day, are you a talking hyena?”

And for dinner, we have a classic BBQ with hamburgers, hot dogs and Caesar salad. For those who will ask: “And the fruits, where are the fruits?” well, I will answer them with pride: “On your plate! It’s the TOMATO in your HAMBURGER, HAHAHAHA!! You didn’t know that, huh?! The tomato is a FRUIT!!”

What if I have allergies?

Let us know of your allergies upon booking and we will offer you various options.

… But the ideal would really be for you to find a way to go back in time and try to find the exact moment that made you become allergic and then explain it to the scientists of this world so that they can try to find better solutions. If you still can’t find it, try, if possible, to go back to the moment of your conception when you were still in your mother’s womb to see if that’s when something happened. And if you manage to go back in time, come to see me first and share your secret with me please.

How old do you have to be to go rafting?

Age doesn’t matter, you need to be over 18 kilos (40 pounds) for the Family Momentum package or 40 kilos (90 pounds) for the Adventure or Classic Momentum. We won’t accept a 3-month baby of 40 pounds.

Please note that at any time, regardless of your weight, age or hair colour, you can walk down the Ottawa River.

Is it best to raft in the spring or in the summer? What are the best months to go rafting?

The Ottawa river is wide with strong rapids. There is water all year long and each season offers its advantages. In the spring, you will find the rapids a bit more voluminous, while the summer offers more opportunities for your raft to surf. It’s up to you!

But if it’s your first time, we definitely suggest the warm months, from mid-June up to mid-September. Leave May to those who have done it before but definitely come back in May for a completely different experience 🙂

Why the Ottawa River?

The Ottawa River is large and voluminous, which means there is a lot less chances to hit a rock.

Its water quickly warms up starting mid-June and becomes very enjoyable for swimming. We believe the Ottawa River is holding magical heating fish.

And since the Ottawa River has many dams upstream that regulate the water level, we don’t fear dryness, we always have a lot of water.

Weddings & Other Events

What is the maximum number of guests the barn can accommodate for a wedding reception?

We can comfortably host up to 200 guests in the barn and surrounding grounds, making it ideal for mid- to large-sized wedding receptions. Inside the open-concept space with high ceilings and outdoor terrace access, there’s plenty of flexibility for banquet seating, dance floor and lounge areas.

Can we hold both our ceremony and reception on site?

Yes, the venue is fully suited for both your ceremony and reception. Whether you want to say your vows inside with ambient natural light streaming through the roof openings, or outdoors with the forest and campfire area as your backdrop, you’ve got options. Afterwards you can transition seamlessly into your reception in the same setting.

Is there lodging available for our wedding guests?

Absolutely — the site offers on-site lodging and camping accommodations for your guests. This allows you to make a weekend of the wedding celebration, keeping everyone on site rather than dispersing to off-site hotels.

What’s included in the barn rental for a wedding?

The barn rental includes the rustic barn venue itself, high ceilings and warm ambient lighting, a mezzanine lounge, a large balcony with scenic views, and access to the campfire area and grounds. It’s your canvas: you bring catering, décor and entertainment, and we supply the space and atmosphere.

Are there restrictions on decoration or set-up times?

We encourage you to arrive early and plan your set-up to take full advantage of the barn’s features: the expansive doors, the balcony, and the surrounding landscape. While standard set-up times apply, we’re flexible for weddings—please discuss with us your schedule so we can accommodate vendor arrival, décor installation and rehearsal.

What kind of catering or bar service is possible?

Our venue supports full service — you may bring in a licensed caterer and bar service (with the appropriate permits). You also have the option of hosting cocktails by the fire outside. We recommend working with vendors who are familiar with the region and the rustic setting.

Is there an indoor/outdoor flow between the barn and grounds?

Yes. One side of the barn opens up toward the forested grounds and campfire area, giving you a beautiful indoor-outdoor setting. Guests can mingle on the 15-metre balcony overlooking the grounds, enhancing the guest experience with scenic views and fresh air.

What about audio, lighting, and entertainment setup?

The barn is already equipped with a full sound system, a projector and a large screen. There’s a stage for musicians and ample space for your DJ or band. We recommend scheduling a technical walk-through with your entertainers to ensure lighting and audio are tailored to your evening’s flow.

How far is the venue from major cities/airports?

The venue is located at 1041 route 148, Bryson, Quebec—just about an hour from Ottawa/Gatineau, making it conveniently accessible for guests travelling from the city while still feeling remote and scenic.

Can we extend the rental to include the weekend or multiple days?

Yes — if you’re planning a longer celebration (for example, welcome cocktails the night before and brunch the next day), talk to us about multi-day rental options. The grounds invite a full weekend-style experience for you and your wedding party.

What is the cancellation or rescheduling policy for weddings?

We understand that plans can change. Please refer to the terms in the rental agreement, and contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule. We’ll work with you to find an alternate date, subject to availability.

Is parking available for guests?

Yes – the property provides ample space for guest parking on-site, meaning convenience and ease for your attendees without the need for off-site lots or shuttles.

How do we book the venue and secure our date?

To reserve your wedding date, contact us via email or phone. A rental agreement will be provided, along with guidance on next steps (deposit, vendor coordination, schedule, etc.). Early booking is recommended—popular summer and fall weekends fill up quickly.
